The Firm For Home Workout

The first videos I ever bought for home use was by The Firm. I was able to purchase then called the fanny lifter along with three videos. What I love about The Firm is they combine a cardo workout with toning.

Using the fanny lifter you step up and down, using hand/free weights you work your upper body. This can be your biceps, triceps, shoulders or any other upper body part. The Firm came out with incline step, I purchased that one which like the fanny lifter came with three videos. I have since given my fanny lifter away along with the videos, it was a great way to start, but you have to move on.

I noticed on The Firm's web site they still carry the fanny lifter, renamed, but not the incline step. I find this strange because the incline step can easily be used with any of The Firm's step DVDs/videos however, the fanny lifter can not. While on the site I noticed that not all the DVDs tell you what you need, what level of fitness they are geared towards, and not all have a sample video.

The Firm does give modifications during the exercise routines, and I have added my own as well. As I advanced I started to add ankle weights for routines which used the incline step. Once I learned all the moves, I knew what was coming and would turn the parts modified for beginners into the advanced version. So, while they were showing the moves for the beginners I am doing the advanced moves. I love that the instructors give you instructors before a move is to be done, I must say some really move fast.

The Firm stills continues to be one of my favorite exercise programs. They are always coming out with new routines, but I will admit it has been a while since I have purchased one. All of The Firm products I have are older, but I love them.

My favorite is The Firm Ultimate Calorie Blaster which uses the incline step, very intense work out if you are looking for something new to challenge your self. I did this other day, and had to stop three times due to working out at the gym. It felt weird to feel like I was out of shape, I used to take one break for ab work, now I can 't get through it. It took some time, but I found for you on Hulu, this one moves fast so watch it first or be prepared to switch a lot.Note that the video on Hulu is not complete, the link above will bring you to Amazon if you want to purchase it.

This is an advanced work out and requires an incline step, and either 3 or 5 lb weights.

Have you used The Firm? Which one is your favorite?

More About Mercury Fillings

I want to talk more about silver fillings because if you have them I want you to know what to do, and if you already have symptoms I am going to help with that as well.

One of the first my husband did after realizing that he had mercury poisoning from his fillings was to check the teeth that were filled. He examined them for any cracks, while this allows more mercury into your system just every day normal drinking and eating activity to release the mercury from your teeth into your system. You can view the video on the videos page entitled "Smoking Teeth."

My husband than went to our dentist to have one tooth removed which he felt was the worst, the dentist said there was nothing wrong with the tooth and would not pull it. Through his good friend Karen the owner of Natural Affects in Jackson Tennessee told him about a dentist who could help him. Karen is very educated in what she does and the store is her ministry which she uses to help others. She also started him detoxing at her store, this is one of the best ways to remove mercury from your system. He was also told to start taking the following, Chlorella, Trace Mineral Maintenance, and Vitamin D.

He went to the dentist who also dealt with mercury poisoning, and had all of the silver fillings removed and replaced. You need to find a holistic dentist to perform this procedure in order to make sure it is done right. I have placed a video on the video page entitled, "Safe Mercury Amalga Removal," you can Google holistic dentists in your state which will pull up results or if you have a health store nearby that you trust ask there. Also note that many personally owned health stores do detoxing on the premises, my husband paid $25 for a session. While it takes time to work, my husband was healthier after about a year.

You can also purchase a detoxer on Ebay for about $110, we paid $130 which included two extra arrays. The foot bath machine pictured is currently selling on Ebay for $100 used however, I used this picture because it similar to the one we have. Also be aware that this is not for everyone, if you have the following you should not use it.

Battery/electrical powered devices such as a pacemaker.

If you have had an organ transplant

If you are pregnant or currently nursing

Suffer from heart disease

Suffer from epileptic seizures

Minors

Hypoglycemic users should eat and check levels before use.

If you have open wounds or damaged skin on your feet or any part that would be submerged into the water.

I also want you to be aware that Chlorella is a natural detoxifier and cause stomach upset, diarrhea, and in some cases has caused sever vomiting. The product we use says to take 3, 400 mg, three times a day however, I just started taking it my self and currently take one a day. You need to eat before you take this, and while I heard that it is not effective unless the proper dosage is taken I believe it is working due to a change in bowel movements.

To learn more about Chlorella, read the free online book.

Wordless Wednesday

In the small town we live in every year there is a three day event called The Strawberry Festival. This town is serious about their strawberries, here are some signs from the festival.

I had to get a picture of this, really strawberry moonshine??

I make it for a lot less then this.

Daiquiris are all over this town, not all contain alcohol.

I really wanted to get some, but settled for fried pickles instead.

A flag displayed on a house which was further adorned with strawberry decor.

The cup contains the most delicious strawberry sweet tea.

Your Body Needs a Shock

If you exercise on a regular basis, and notice that all of the sudden the results have come to a stand still, you need to shock your body. I have worked out at home for most of my life because I like the convince, and privacy. After doing the same DVD work outs, even though I mix them up, my body is used to them. So, I have to find something to purchase to give my body that shock it lacks due to repetition.

We took out a membership at the local gym about two months ago, I must admit I do like the treadmill. Well I noticed my body saying yeah yeah okay this again, and stop doing the job it needs to do. I snuck up on my body yesterday that gave it such a shock I was a half pound later than when I started the day. That is totally not normal for me, because I have been working out so long I focus on maintaining more than anything else.

So, what I am going to do is work out at the gym and also work out at home, so my body will not get used to just one thing. It is the same way with food, I eat pretty much the same thing on a regular basis and notice a difference when I give my body that shock of a food it is not use to, the results are good. I don't over indulge, just every now and than eat something I normally don't.

I heard recently on the radio about how to not over indulge during holiday feasting which I thought was excellent and utilize now. Eat the things you normally would not eat, to avoid over eating.

Cucumbers

Cucumbers are probably my favorite vegetable, I love to eat them with humus as well as dressing. I also like the fact that because they are 95% water they are what I call a free food, with only 13 calories and no fat, I can eat as many medium cucumbers as I want.

A natural regulator for the body's inner temperature stems from the fact they are 95% water. Cucumbers will also help to flush out harmful toxins naturally. The skin of the cucumber is similar to aloe in aiding with sunburn along with minor irritations to the skin. If you have ever seen someone with cucumbers on their eyes it is because the juice from the cucumber is known to reduce puffiness around the eyes and also to keep acne at bay.

Cucumbers also may aid in the reduction of high blood pressure to the rich content of potassium and magnesium. This is along with a diet of lean proteins and low starch. They also may aid in the prevention of certain bladder or kidney stones if consumed on a regular basis, or to regulate uric acid.

One medium cucumber also contains the following.

 Vitamin C 5.5 mcg
Molybdenum 5.6 mcg
Vitamin A 223.60 UI
Folate 13.52 mcg
Magnesium 11.44 mg
Fiber 0.83 g

Cucumbers also make a nice refreshing drink on a hot summer day, take a look at all the recipes at Yummly.

     Honey & Cucumber Facial

Puree one cucumer, and press throught a sieve to remove any chunks. Add 3 tsp of honey.
Pat gently over neck, underneath chin and over your face with a light cloth or cotton ball. Refrigerate up to one week.

                                                                    Clear Skin Mask

If you are occasionally troubled by blemishes, this easy mask will help to prevent them.
Place the following in a blender and blend until smooth:
1/2 cucumber, peeled
1 tablespoon instant nonfat dry milk
1 teaspoon plain yogurt
Apply to face and leave on for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

Cucumbers

Low Fat Cream Cheese

Dill Weed

Cocktail bread

Skin off or on does not matter, cut cucumber thinly. Spread low fat cream cheese on to the cocktail bread, this can usually be found at the deli, if not ask. Sprinkle dill weed ligthly over low fat cream cheese, place cucumber on top, add another sprinkle of dill weed on to the cucumber, and eat.

My kids will have me in the kitchen for an hour making these. You can also use regular bread, but this is much more fun!!

How do you use cucumbers my beautiful friends?

Silver Fillings/Amalgam

Silver fillings, amalgam, or mercury, it is all the same, but the FDA and ADA do not want the public to know the truth. Many individuals are being misdiagnosed, as was my husband, he was told he had recurring Mono along with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It was not until the night we heard a comedian describing his symptoms from mercury poisoning that he knew what was wrong.

He told his doctor about some symptoms he was having which were not acquainted with Mono, the doctor responded by telling him they would go away once the Mono did. This is when we started to lose faith in doctors, and God lead us to research mercury poisoning. The FDA and ADA know the hazards, but due to American greed will not say anything, and the dentists are not allowed to talk about it either. The only mercury poisoning recognized within the United States is that from fish.

My husband found a dentist, who him self dealt with mercury poisoning, and had all of his silver fillings removed and replaced. It was then that my husband started to regain his health after six months of misdiagnoses. He also had to quit working due to lose of energy, but the company let him go because he was gone so long.

Through a friend of his who owns a natural health store in West Tennessee he learned about detoxing. He paid for the process for a while before searching on Ebay and finding a home system, ion cleanse. It has been two years since he had the fillings removed and is doing better, he continues to use the ion cleanse.

A friend of his back in West Tennessee has also been dealing with mercury poisoning, just went back to work after two years. She shared a link with us from Mercola.com which contains footage from a DVD on this important topic. It will only be available until Tuesday April 10, 2012, while it is lengthy I suggest watching it, buying a copy, and letting others know.

If for some reason the link does not work go to the web site and search for, "The Hidden Trigger to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's That 75% of People Carry." You can also watch a preview here, but there is not as much as on the other site.

It is also being connected to Autism.

Some symptoms include, but are not limited to.

Irritable Bowl Syndrome

Chronic Fatigue

Anxiety

Allergies

Learning Disabilities

Panic Attacks

Schizophrenia

Asthma

Psychos

Symptoms of Chronic Mercury Toxicity

Failure

Currently I am studying for the test to become a certified personal fitness trainer. Every day I see successful people in the fitness industry and think to my self, I want to be like them. I want to help make a difference in some one's life.

I was never really good in school, by man's standards I have only a eighth grade education. During my late teens I decided I wanted to go to college, for business, and studied for my GED. I never told anyone what I was doing because I was afraid if I failed everyone would be disappointed in me. Every day for months I would get up at five in the morning, exercise for two hours, get a shower, and head off to work for eight hours. When I got home I would sit with the GED book working on math problems, I was never good in math so I thought this was a good strategy. All of my hard work had paid off I took the test and passed.

Now I sit reading this manual to do what I have wanted to do for years and I am once again afraid of failure. I never liked science, always failed science, now here is all this scientific jargon right in front of my face. I will have two hours to take the test which consists of 140 questions and the cost is $260.00, only because I am a member of Snap Fitness. I can take the test again, and I think about those in other fields who have to take exams and fail, not just once, but more than once. If I fail, I will work harder to achieve what I want.

I look at it like this I have only truly failed if I fall down and never get back up. After all it is my life. and It's Your Life, Live to the fullest, and don't give up.

Wordless Wednesday

I made some homemade strawberry bread today. Strawberries are in abundance here right now, but due to a mild winter are over ripe. For this reason they need to be used right away. I searched yesterday for a recipe that was healthy and found one at CD Kitchen. I love that it uses no oil, egg whites and contains only 151 calories and 0 grams of fat.

I did use wheat flour instead of white which does have 5 grams of fat per 1/4 cup, but wheat breaks down in your body slower feeding your body energy. While white flour breaks down faster in your system leaving you hungry sooner, and not as energetic.

It got the approval of the entire household including two boys, 13 & 15.

I posted the recipe, but also included the link.

Motivation Monday

If you are looking for some motivation, take a look at the giveaways and contest page. I just posted some great stuff there. I also added a link to a site on menopause on the health and wellness page.

Over the weekend I wrote an article on Examiner.com, Diabetes, while researching sleep and the connection to diabetes I learned something that might motivate you to make sure you get your sleep. This will effect you rather you have diabetes or not.

Here is some more motivation for you. My step son had a female friend who I meet while she was in high school. She had excess weight on her then, she has been posting her work outs on Facebook, and I have been commenting and asking questions. One question I asked was if she was working out at a gym or at home, she said at home. She also told me due to lack of funds she created her own dumb bells, need to blog on that. I offered to send her some of the DVDs/videos I am no longer using. I told her that some of them did include a step, but it was not necessary in order to use them. I love the answer she gave me, I'll find something. I love her motivation to get in shape and the fact that she will make a way to do it. Currently she is single, in her mid twenties making her own way in the world in a big city, way to go!!!! So, all my beautiful friends I hope this motivates to be your best.
